Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday presented US President Donald Trump with a letter from the Ukrainian first lady. Zelensky clarified that the message was intended for America’s First Lady, Melania Trump. “My wife, the first lady of Ukraine, she gave the letter. It’s not to you but to your wife,” he said.
During the White House meeting, Trump discussed a separate letter he had hand-delivered to Russian President Vladimir Putin from Melania Trump on Friday, describing it as a personal appeal for peace and an end to the war in Ukraine. Trump’s comments followed his summit with Putin in Alaska last week.
Trump: "I think progress is being made. Very substantial progress in many ways."
