Republicans in the House of Representatives have introduced a bill that would authorize President-elect Donald Trump to enter into negotiations with Denmark about the potential purchase of Greenland to add to the territory of the United States.
The bill, headed by Rep. Andy Olges (R-TN), is referred to as the "Make Greenland Great Again Act," according to Fox News. The territory's geography is strategically placed and Trump has said it would be beneficial for the national security of the United States. Trump has expressed an interest in buying the territory from Denmark, which has ownership and authority over the island. Denmark's as well as Greenland's prime ministers have said it is not for sale.
"Joe Biden took a blowtorch to our reputation these past four years, and before even taking office, President Trump is telling the world that America First is back. American economic and security interests will no longer take a backseat, and House Republicans are ready to help President Trump deliver for the American people," Ogles told Fox News.
