“That man is a total idiot.”
It was the early 1980s, and as Director of Communications for the Republican Majority, I was helping set up an informal briefing in a Senate hearing room.
A Democrat senator had just stuck his head in the door, made an inane comment (which he thought was immensely humorous), and then strutted haughtily away, his laughter echoing down the corridor.
The comment above was made to me by one of the leading, and most highly respected members of the Senate Majority.
And the “total idiot” was – yes, you guessed it – the junior senator from Delaware, one Joseph Robinette Biden.
It was all somewhat amusing back then.
But, fast forward to now…
That same Joseph Robinette Biden is now President of the United States.
And that “total idiot” is now wreaking havoc, both at home and abroad.
