A new Scripps News/Ipsos poll shows that the majority of Americans favor themass deportation of illegal immigrants, a policy that has been proposed by 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The policy was supported by 54 percent of respondents, with 86 percent of Republicans, 58 percent of independents, and 25 percent of Democrats indicating that they "strongly" or "somewhat" support it,according to the poll.
A total of 39 percent of respondents nationwide said that immigration was the top issue in this election, with inflation topping the list at 57 percent. Trump holds a ten-point advantage against Harris (44 percent to 34 percent) in the opinion of respondents regarding who would be more effective in managing immigration, poll data shows.
