Trump says negotiations with nations over tariffs will begin 'immediately'

On Monday, President Donald Trump, as he threatened China with a hike in tariffs in response to their tariff increase of 34 percent on US imports, said that he would "immediately" be meeting with countries that have requested to have meetings surrounding trade negotiations.

After threatening to raise tariffs on China by 50 percent if the country does not remove the 34 percent tariffs on US goods, Trump said in a post on Truth Social, "Negotiations with other countries, which have also requested meetings, will begin taking place immediately. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
