What Now, My Love?
I have an old axiom I just made up that is entirely apropos to today’s special post-election edition of Clews Views.
Now, some might (quite rightly) say, “Well, how can it be ‘old’ if you just made it up? And how can it be an axiom [defined by the Oxford Dictionary as ‘a statement or proposition which is regarded as being established, accepted, or self-evidently true,’ if you alone are the originator and sole repository?”
Well, I am old – so that takes care of the first query. And as to the second, every axiom has to start somewhere.
So, here is our new old, soon to be venerated, axiom:
“He who thinks he is the smartest person in the room is obnoxious. He who thinks he is the only smart person in the room is odious.”
I have a lot of faults, as do we all. But thinking that I am always the smartest, or only smart person, in the room is not one of them.
In fact, I am many times awed and even embarrassed by how much smarter than I are some of those with whom I have had the honor and joy of associating. Including many, as you are about to see, of the CRPAC Patriots who regularly write to me.
And that is precisely why today’s Clews Views – “What Now, My Love” -- is not going to feature my take on where our newly re-elected 47th President of the United States needs to take our cherished country.
The fact is, I can quite graphically sum up my thoughts and feelings in a single quote from one of my all-time favorite movies, Gladiator.
To wit:
Unleash HellSo much for my take.
We now need to salt -- and scorch -- the earth.
No cordiality.
No magnanimity.
No olive branches.
Give no quarter.
Take no prisoners.
Do unto to others as they have savagely done unto us.
For the good, decent patriotic American people – the “garbage” and “fascists” as the other side labeled and treated you and me – it is payback time.
And time to take back our country!
But, as I said at the outset, I do not believe I am the necessarily the smartest, and certainly not the only smart, person in the room.
So, please allow me to share with you the words of wisdom from two very smart people whom I hold in the highest esteem and to whom I gladly defer.
The first is a dear friend and CRPAC Patriot by the name of Mark G (I am protecting his privacy here). He is not a Washington insider. He has never aspired to political office (in short, he is not a political hack). And he does not, like nearly all of those in politics today, claim to have singularly mastered the wisdom of the world.
What he is, simply put, is a real, genuine patriotic American, a lot like you, who exemplifies why I have lived my life in politics in Washington fulgently, forcefully (and far too frequently futilely) attempting to convince those around me to “Trust the people.”
I file the insightful and incisive messages our friend is kind enough to occasionally send me in a binder I call “On the Mark.”
When you read his forthright analysis as to where we as conservatives under a hopefully far more forceful Donald Trump need to take our country now and for the foreseeable future, I believe you will fully agree and understand why.
Here is a real American’s take on “What Now, My Love”:
Carter Clews, no olive branches this time! We fall into the same trap every time we get control. We reach out to the other side with an olive branch, and they start beating us with that same branch.
I saw Letitia James' speech in New York yesterday. Ask those you know if that James speech looked like an olive branch? It was more akin to a declaration of war from their side. In my opinion, that woman threatened the President-elect of the United States of America.
James, among others, should be investigated and indicted, beginning day one. The DOJ appointees that Trump makes had better be ready to work their collective asses off on day one.
I saw Speaker Johnson on Laura Ingraham's show last night. He needs to take a calcium supplement or something to strengthen his spine. I could hear it in his voice that they are ready to put together an amnesty package for the illegals that are here. I can hear it now...we are going to close the border and give amnesty to those that are here, but this is the last of them that will get amnesty.
They are using that term "pathway to citizenship" again instead of deportation. Laura was holding his feet to the fire and you could see him spewing lies.
Donald J. Trump won. Most of the milquetoast Republicans that won are only there because they slipped in on the coattails of one of the greatest political comebacks in the history of this nation. Trump does not come into office this time as the naive, uninformed newbie that can be molded into the RINO image. He knows the ropes and knows the players in our party that will try to derail him.
I hate to be cliche, but it is appropriate in this case. He needs to grab the bull by the horns and steer his agenda come hell or high water. I believe that we have this one last chance at getting it right.
If Trump runs things like Trump knows how to, we will come out of this in four years headed in the right direction with a Vice President that is groomed to take the helm and continue the agenda for another eight years. If Trump allows the sycophants that nudged their way in the first time to get a grip early on, we will have done all that we have done to win in 2024 for naught.
I would be remiss if I did not add that I believe that the primary task of this great nation should be to come together as a Christian nation and ask God in heaven to forgive our nation and take His rightful place as the Lord of our lives and our nation. Without Him at the true helm of our nation and lives we will continue to flounder and spin our wheels as a people. When we say, may God bless America...we need to bless Him first!
I couldn’t say it any better than that.
And so, as I averred at the outset, I won’t even try.
Instead, in conclusion of this missive, I will let Newt Gingrich lay it all out in a remarkably perceptive and prescient speech he gave at Hillsdale College just days before Trump’s – and America’s -- November 5 triumph. I urge you to watch it beginning to end.
This speech lays out precisely what the radical left in all of its incarnations – politicians, bureaucrats, and lickspittle mainstream media – has done to the American people, And why it is now time for an unrestrained, unprecedented, and unbridled thorough Restoration of our most basic and precious constitutional rights.
I believe I need say no more. In fact, perhaps, I have already said too much, given my earlier promise to defer to others.
But, I believe you get the point, don’t you?
We won a hard-fought battle. An unfair fight. A tong war to the death – in which the adversary labeled us “fascists,” “anti-American,” “dumb,” “weak” and “garbage.”
Now is not the time to make nice.
It is the time to make war.
