CNN is set to lay off hundreds of employees on Thursday as part of a broader effort to restructure the business and prioritize a global digital audience, according to a report by CNBC.
The network’s layoffs are part of its efforts to focus on reducing production costs and consolidating teams, according to unnamed sources who spoke to CNBC. Additionally, some shows that are currently being produced in New York and Washington may move to Atlanta, where production costs are lower.
CNN has roughly 3,5000 worldwide employees. The job cuts are not expected to affect the network's top talent.
