President Trump in a video shared on Thursday spoke out against the breach of the U.S. Capitol and violence that occurred on Wednesday.
"I would like to begin by addressing the heinous attack on the United States Capitol," the president said. "Like all Americans I am outraged by the violence, lawlessness and mayhem."
A tweet containing the president's video message marked the first tweet posted since Twitter locked his account on Wednesday.
"A new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th. My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power. This moment calls for healing and reconciliation," the president said.
