The Deficit Impact of Biden's Build Back Better

The president’s official Twitter account flagged the CBO score of his Build Back Better multitrillion-dollar spending bill, which says it will add $367 billion to the deficit over ten years (or $160 billion even after revenue from bolstered IRS enforcement), and said, “My Build Back Better Act is going to reduce the deficit by more than $100 billion over ten years.”

We’ve gone from the bill will be $6 trillion to the bill will be $3.5 trillion to the bill will be $0. Now that the CBO score has come out saying it will add to the deficit, the bill will reduce the deficit.

I remember a time not that long ago when the mainstream press made a big deal about presidents lying. Perhaps you do, too. In principle, that was a good thing. Presidents lie a lot, and it’s part of the job of the press to call them out when they do. So let’s see how many headlines there are tomorrow about Biden lying about the cost of Build Back Better.
