Ryan Routh left letter confirming 'assassination attempt' against Trump, promises $150,000 to 'whomever can finish the job': DOJ

A letter was filed in court Monday, allegedly written by Ryan Routh, the man arrested in connection to the second assassination attempt of 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.

"Dear world, this was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I am so sorry I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster," read the alleged letter, which was reportedly written months before the attempt, according to The Hill.

Department of Justice prosecutors said in the court documents that Routh put the letter into a box and left it with an unnamed witness "several months" before the September 15 foiled assassination at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course. The witness reportedly only opened the box after learning of the attempt, and found it to contain the letter in question as well as ammunition and other letters.
