Special counsel Robert Mueller did not uncover evidence that the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government to interfere in the 2016 election, according to a letter set to Congress on Sunday from Attorney General Bill Barr.

Barr's letter states that the special counsel did not find that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in Moscow's interference with the 2016 presidential election, and it made no conclusion as to whether Trump obstructed justice in the investigation of Russia's interference.

“The Special Counsel’s investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election,” Barr’s letter to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees, which was made public shortly after it was submitted Sunday, states.

“As the report states: ‘The investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired with the Russian government in its election interference activities,’” Barr writes.

Barr’s letter was a summary of what officials described as the “principal conclusions” of Mueller’s 22-month investigation. The special counsel submitted a confidential report to the attorney general on Friday, shuttering an investigation that has dogged President Trump for nearly two years.
