The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously dropped the suit filed by Maryland and the District of Columbia, ruling that there was no legal standing for the plaintiffs to sue the president.
The ruling is considered a major victory for the president, who has consistently fought against allowing others to review his private finances. The president reacted quickly to the news on Twitter.
“Word just out that I won a big part of the Deep State and Democrat induced Witch Hunt,” the president tweeted Wednesday morning. “Unanimous decision in my favor from The United States Court of Appeals For The Fourth Circuit on the ridiculous Emoluments Case. I don’t make money, but lose a fortune for the honor of serving and doing a great job as your President (including accepting Zero salary!).”
Jay Sekulow, one of the president’s attorneys, also issued a statement in response to the decision.
